Labs

How we test an engineering idea.

An experiment starts with a question small enough to test. A useful lab note records the setup, the observation, and what still needs investigation.

A THOUGHTFUL START

Lab notes are in preparation.

There are no public experiments to browse yet. For an example of how we reason through a failure, follow a simulated checkout request after the payment provider stops responding.

READING A LAB NOTE

What does the status mean?

Concept
A question, a proposed method, and a description of what evidence would answer it.
Prototype
A working implementation of a limited scenario. Its note should explain the conditions tested and the limits of the result.

LABS COLLABORATION

Bring a question to the lab.

What behaviour would you like to understand? Describe one scenario, the constraints, and an observation that would change your next decision.
